Armada, Michigan (12/??/2021)... Later this year, Bobby Elliott is headed to the 37th Annual Lucas Oil Tulsa Shootout in his own Hyper Chassis #5B.
The Allenton, Michigan native is entering two of the four main classes, Outlaw Wing and Outlaw Non-Wing. 2022 will be Elliott's second year in a row participating in the two bigger motored classes; after running A-Class and Stock Non-Wing in 2020.
Racing without the wing in the Tulsa Expo Center is when the fifteen-year-old has displayed his talents best. Last year Elliott missed the final transfer spot to the Outlaw Non-Wing A-Main by only two positions. This year Elliott hopes to get over the hump and make his first Tulsa Shootout A-Main start. "It would mean the world to make an A-Main. It would really say I've made it as a driver."
Even though Bobby's best finish comes without the wing, he is no slouch with it. Two years ago, he was as close as three spots away from transferring into the A-Class finale. Elliott did not see as much success at the 2021 Tulsa Shootout in Wing Outlaw, but he hopes to improve upon last year's outing. "I finished runner-up six times this summer. To be able to go from running non-wing the whole year and throw the wing on occasionally and still run upfront, it felt great."
Elliott's home tracks are two of the best bullring Micro Sprint tracks in the Midwest, US 24 Speedway (Logansport, IN) and Circus City Speedway (Peru, IN). Bobby had hoped to battle with fellow teenagers Darin Naida and Jack Hoyer for a track championship at US 24 until he was involved in a bad wreck during the Non-Wing World Championship at Circus City. "When I had my bad crash and had a concussion, I was out for a few months. During that time I reset my mind and saw the rest of the year as a fresh start. I ended up proving a lot locally this year in Wing and Non-Wing."
Look for Bobby Elliott to be battling upfront with a refreshed mind and a lot to prove at this year's 37th Annual Lucas Oil Tulsa Shootout, December 29th, 2021 through January 1st, 2022.
