Wayne City, Ill (9/5/20) Wayne County Speedway brought the heat on a cool night in Southern Illinois Raceway. The 105 cars signed in told everyone it was going to be a wild night for night one of the Showdown in Bean Town. Craig Ronk rocked the place to take home $1,500 and advanced into the A-Main tonight (Sunday) for the Outlaw Wing micros.
Tyler Rust led the field to green with Ronk on his outside. Rust led the opening laps before Ronk moved up the middle lane and started to build momentum. Ronk took the lead coming off of turn two early in the race and opened up a nice lead quickly.
At halfway Ronk nearly had a straightaway lead and started to enter lap traffic. The slower cars proved to be no issue for Ronk but they did for Rust as could not gain any on the leader.
Ronk ended up running away to win by almost half the track. Tyler Rust held on for second. The battle for the final two transfer spots was hot all race between Ryan Criswell, Aiden Purdue, and Austin Schaeffer. Criswell barely beat Purdue to the line for 3rd and Purdue edged out Schaeffer also for the final transfer spot. Craig Ronk, Criswell, Rust, and Purdue have all locked into the A-Main tomorrow night. The Hard Charger for the feature was Andrew Peters, he gained ten spots traveling from 18th to 8th.
Tonight (Sunday) the action is back once again with Hot Laps starting at 6:45 P.M.! You do not want to miss it!
