Hanford, California (2/21/2021)... Shane Golobic held off Carson Macedo in a caution-filled Wing 360 Sprint Car race on Saturday night. The win is his first-ever at Keller Auto Speedway.
Fourteen-year-old Joel Meyers led the stacked field of drivers to green but not through turn one. He got loose and slid high, giving the lead to Carson Macedo in the early going.
Macedo set the pace early, turning laps in the mid-fourteen-second bracket to hold a comfortable lead over Shane Golobic and Blake Carrick.
After the first of many cautions, Golobic went to the top on the restart. He would narrowly take the lead as the caution flag would fly once again.
Golobic went back to the bottom while Macedo took his turn on the high side. He quickly went to the top spot and gained control of the race for the second time.
Just under ten laps to go, Macedo had a nice lead on Golobic while working through lap traffic. Macedo did the one thing he did not want to, and that was make a mistake.
Carson Macedo jumped the cushion, and Shane Golobic took over the lead with eight laps to go. Just four laps later, the caution flag flew, giving Macedo one last shot at the win.
He threw the slider down into turn one on the restart, Golobic turned underneath to retain the top spot. Macedo never challenged the NOS Energy Drink Elk Grove Ford No. 17w again. Shane Golobic would win the season opener at Keller Auto Speedway.
Carson Macedo held onto second while Tim Kaeding filled up the podium. Dominic Scelzi picked up six positions to finish fourth, and Mitch Faccinto round out the top 5.
Mitchel Moles was the Hard Charger of the race, gaining eight spots to finish 13th after winning his B-Main.
